Well, what to do when you’re constantly surrounded by so much candy? Try your hand at making some!

There’s a barrage of information to so readily available online; the competition’s really fast and furious. I’m clearly not the most interesting of the lot but I think my life has its merits to warrant a site of its own. *Grin*

I barely bat an eyelash for the stranger beside me. In fact, it irks me to share such little space with someone who (half the time) stinks of their bedsheet/ body odour/ oily hair/ greasy skin from eating in hawker centres. On many mornings, I want to scream at the crowd click-clocking past me: “DOn’t u f***ers ever take a f***in shower in the morning?!!”

Likewise, a good friend, Chili Padi (we call her), hates train rides to the extent that she shoots death glares at anyone who so much so enters 1 metre of her personal space.

So..it’s rather cute that her charming bf takes random pictures of fellow commuters whenever he’s in a train or bus — an antithesis to her loathing of public transport.

This morning, i had a good chuckle at the taglines Kel had written under these photos he had taken of fellow commuters.

Whilst searching for a pretty picture of Iron & Wine, I chanced upon Daytrotter. “The source for new music discovery and free mp3 downloads from the best emerging bands”, it claims. Why not? I quizzed myself. After all, my ipod contains dusty and weather beaten tracks from 2006 that have been in loop mode for the 100th time.

I’m not a walking encyclopedia for music fans but I do like my eclectic mix-tapes that suit the different colours of my moods.

There’s a little bit of Broken Social Scene (yay for 27th July at the Esplanade!), Janet Jackson, Aaliyah, The Cary Brothers, Tiesto, Franz Ferdinand, one or two of Miles D, Junior Boys (you can’t go wrong with them, ever.)…and so on.

I usually chance upon new favourites at the movies, when a particular song in a particular scene tugs at my heartstrings. For example, the “Big Ship” by Brian Eno blew me away in the movie “The Lovely Bones” when she’s running on the beach, watching glass bottles filled with ginormous ships sailing towards her and crashing onto the rocky shore.

In that same film, I discovered This Mortal Coil’s “Song to the Siren” which was so beautifully haunting that I would disappear into a different dimension with it in my ears.

To get back to my earlier recount of Iron & Wine, I know I’m way behaind the fans… but that song “Flightless Bird, American Mouth”…wow oh wow. Very apt for a sappy, cynical love story like Twilight. At my 5th viewing (thanks to Starhub TV), I found myself humming the chorus over and over.

I think Music does wonders for one’s imagination, lifts moods, pulls us through the dredges and overall, illustrates our moods with varying depths and tones.  Jolly good stuff.
